AssetBuilder
Scott helped AssetBuilder, a Web-based investment firm co-founded by syndicated personal finance columnist Scott Burns, to attract new clients through a campaign of broadcast, print and online interviews. AssetBuilder secured talk-radio appearances in 20+ markets nationwide, as well as coverage in Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, BusinessWeek and other publications.
BancTec
Scott assisted BancTec, a $390 million business process outsourcing provider, in developing an updated communications platform for its evolving business. Over the course of the year-long engagement, Scott led the creation of core collateral, including a revamped Web site, sales presentation, brochures, white papers and company tagline. Scott also assisted in updating perceptions of the company with industry and business media.
Belo Corp.
Serving for three years as vice president of corporate communications for this $1.5 billion diversified media company, Scott worked to build a new, progressive brand identity for the company. After leaving Belo in December 2004, Scott continued to work with the company on a consulting basis, including assisting with the development of Belo’s 2005 annual report.
Big in Japan
Big in Japan is a Dallas-based developer of mobile applications, including the hugely popular ShopSavvy, a barcode-scanning comparison shopping application. Upon ShopSavvy’s introduction in the fall of 2008, Scott led media relations efforts that helped precipitate an avalanche of national media coverage, including features and reviews in hundreds of television, print and online outlets. ShopSavvy now has a user base in the millions.
Black Star
Since 2006, Scott has assisted Black Star, the historic New York photo agency, in building its online presence. Scott created and edits Black Star Rising, a group photography blog with dozens of contributors and thousands of subscribers and Twitter followers. Black Star Rising is an official Google News source and a go-to resource for professional photographers.
BlogTalkRadio
Scott was recruited to evangelize the merits of BlogTalkRadio, a call-in Internet radio platform, shortly after its launch in 2006. Leveraging the notoriety of his Media Orchard blog, Scott created popular BlogTalkRadio programs featuring interviews with some of the luminaries of the social media landscape, including Steve Rubel, Brian Clark, Shel Israel, and others. BlogTalkRadio, based in New York, now draws more than 4.5 million listeners and, in August 2009, hosted a call-in show featuring President Barack Obama.
eDrugSearch.com
Since 2006, Scott has helped eDrugSearch.com to build its standing as a leading advocate for online pharmacy consumers and an important voice in the health and medical blogosphere. Among his efforts, Scott led the development of the Healthcare 100, a popular directory and ranking system of healthcare blogs that has been cited in the Wall Street Journal.
MedSurge Advances (now Osyris Medical)
Scott spearheaded an aggressive media relations campaign for this Dallas-based provider of aesthetic medicine products and services, landing the company in the New York Times, Inc. Magazine, and on dozens of television stations nationwide. Additionally, Scott led the development — including scripting, shooting, editing and production — of a series of marketing videos promoting the company’s products.
RiseSmart
Scott began advising RiseSmart shortly after its launch in 2006, and has guided its communications efforts as the Silicon Valley-based outplacement company has raised $4.5 million in venture funding and been featured in USA Today, the San Jose Mercury News, the Dallas Morning News, Mashable, VentureBeat, and dozens of other media outlets. In August 2009, RiseSmart was highlighted in a Wall Street Journal story as a low-cost, high-tech alternative to its larger competitors.
